What is Giant’s Head ??

Giant’s Head is the mountain in the middle of Summerland made by the remnants of a 40 million year old volcano, hence the abundance of Vineyards in the Okanagan.

What makes the Giants Head Regatta unique?

The regatta is held at the Summerland Yacht Club, a club known for its small club atmosphere with great food, where everyone feels welcome.

Traditionally there are great sailing winds in the south Okanagan and the waters around Summerland are sought after by sailors.

Giant’s Head is the only regatta, in the Okanagan lake series, with a long distance race around “Rattle Snake Island” and back, on the Saturday of the 2-day race.

In 2018 we did a race south to Penticton on the Sunday of the regatta weekend instead of around the marks off the Summerland Yacht Club.

Monday, August 10th is the Rattlesnake Island Passage Race for all sailors, experienced or new, to try out a fun race from Summerland to Kelowna.

Summerland Yacht Club has been known to put on a great event and party, come check us out.
