Five DSA Members Compete at 71st Commodores Cup
by Howard Scott
“The 71st Commodore’s Cup Regatta held August 18-20 had five members from the Disabled Sailing Association participating. They raced in Martin16 sail boats which are adapted for anyone with a disability to sail safely and competitively.
There were many close races which were all greatly enjoyed by the competitors. Disabled sailors are continuing to train for the 2017 RE/MAX Mobility Cup, September 11-15 and gained valuable experience at Commodore’s Cup. Looking forward to next year already!!
Many thanks to the fantastic volunteers from the Kelowna Yacht Club and the Disabled Sailing Association that provided this opportunity for disabled sailors to compete.
The Disabled Sailing Association with the Kelowna Yacht Club provide many sailing opportunities throughout the summer for people with disabilities. The program gets people out, learning, enjoying, socializing and competing if they choose. All important things. All accomplished through this sport generously shared by KYC and DSA.”
